Files of the Cost Planning tasks

Each task of cost planning is stored in a separate file with an "extension" .cpw, e.g. business.cpw.

Thus, the "task" in our application corresponds to the file.

File Menu

New...

Opens a new task window and displays the dialog box for specification of the resource to be allocated.

Open...

Displays a dialog to select the file to be opened.

You can have multiple open tasks simultaneously. To switch between them, you can use the "Window" menu.

Save

If a task was already saved in a file, overwrites it. If was not, displays a dialog box "Save as ...".

Save as...

Displays a dialog to select a folder and filename to save the task.

Close

Closes an open task (if you have made unsaved changes, you will be prompted to save them).

Import...

Displays the dialog to select a file with "extension" .хls or .xlsx (Microsoft Excel formats, which can also be processed in OpenOffice Calc, LibreOffice Calc and some other applications) from which you want to import data. After selecting a file you will see the dialog to select a table (sheet) and cells to be imported. Imported data is appended to the end of a table open in the application (see "General view of the application").

When importing numeric values, we check their compliance with the applied precision for the open table: the values are rounded if necessary.

Furthermore, the intervals are checked. If we insert the 'Min. request' value which is more than the 'Max. request', the last value is set equal to the first one. (The same for the values 'Allocate min.', 'Allocate max.'). In turn, if we insert the 'Max. request' value which is less than the 'Min. request', the last value is set equal to the first one. (The same for the values 'Allocate max.', 'Allocate min.').

Export...

Displays the dialog to select columns of the current table for export into a file "extension" .хls or .xlsx (Microsoft Excel formats, which can also be processed in OpenOffice Calc, LibreOffice Calc and some other applications). For any selected column you can change the name under which it will be exported. If the table contains rows temporary excluded from consideration (marked with a "tick" in the second column on the right of expense item names - see "General view of the application"), you can also specify whether you want to export those rows.

After selecting columns you will see the dialog to specify a folder and filename for export of the table data. If you specify a new file, it will contain one table (sheet) with exported data. If you select an existing file, the new table (sheet) will be added to the end of the file. Resource name, units of measure, min. and max. amount of the resource, sums of requests and sums of the allocated resource will be written in the beginning of the new table.

Print

Displays the dialog to select columns of the current table which will be printed. For any selected column you can change the name under which it will be printed. If the table contains rows temporary excluded from consideration (marked with a "tick" in the second column on the right of expense item names - see "General view of the application"), you can also specify whether you want to print those rows.

After selecting columns you will see the standard print dialog to specify printer etc.

Quit

Closes the application. If you have made unsaved changes, you will be prompted to save them.
